Let the Light Shine

To illumine the weary paths of men
To shun the wolves ready to devour their prey

as it is treading its way to the dark alleys in the city.

The glowing street lamps that failed to reach the skyline
are witnesses to the whirlwind romance of the tiny flying creatures
Unmarvelled and unsuspecting it's their last dance tonight.

The light emanating from the street lights
gives profound joy, enkindled to create nightlife.
The tedium of waiting has now turned into a golden opportunity.

As the darkness meets its lover
Silence enthuses over another new episode
Of the flirtation of the darkness and the charming lights.

An excerpt from Devdoot the angel ---------

The parti-coloured lamps

on this isle

are not decorative lighting-

they are the dropped-

out eyes

of travellers who lost

their way

-- Sudhakar Gaidhani

Un estratto da Devdoot l'angelo

---------

Le lampade colorate

su quest'isola

non sono luci decorative

sono gli occhi

occhi spenti

di viaggiatori che hanno perso

la loro strada.

Poem 2:

LIGHTS IN THE CORNER OF THE CITY

The lights are lined up neatly on the side of the road

Banish the darkness from the lap of the night

Accompany the eyes to split the pitch dark

Guide the steps along the way

The scenery looks beautiful

Flowering heart

No anxiety

Worried about a misstep destroyed

A REAL SUCCESS

The charm of urban landscape and lights

Sparkle in the eyes of the rich and the elite;

They adorn the streets, merely to please the eyes,

To uplift the urbane mood and morale to skies.

But, invisibly behind the veil of that glitter

Peeps the poor, stuck in poverty and hunger,

As the saying goes, every coin has two sides,

Can we say, people won’t look at the other side?

The charm, the landscapes and the night lights

They enthuse and confer serenity and delights,

The glitters of the night vanish as the day dawns,

Yes! Reality is something that pierces like thorns.

Unfortunately, the expedition for urbanization

Leaves a trial of concrete jungles with pollution,

Alas but! What about our future generations?

Why not we leave some space for pure oxygen?

Let us not deviate from progress and prosperity

But do it with a positive visualization and priority;

A peaceful and contented life is what one expects,

Achieving it indeed is a real success, in all respects.

To The Lights Of My Night

Oh! When the dutiful daystar

consumes its gold-clad spears

and fades away like an unwanted saint,

I embrace the night in the eyes

of light, so natural in the dark,

evoking mystery and allure, beauty and magic.

The myth of my senses comes alive

on my fair complexion and I feel

as if my thoughts like one gentle night stars

born for a peaceful midnight walk,

and they seem to be conspiring

like self-centered gods to keep me awake.

Everything evolves, even love, to the rhythm

of light and dark, bringing worth

to my space living earth-scented breath.

I am unique, my heart is well-suited

for every kind of soul like an accessible, free city.

I am happy; I live in awe like mercy

of the blue sky in my eyes, the lights,

the heart of my existence, magical and safe.

Night is a dark theater, and I switch

the lights on to see unscripted life.

Man has tremendous capacity.
He's never tired of inventions.
Among thousands of scientific projects.
Man overcomes the darkness.
Those were the days.
when peoples used to burn firewood
not only for cooking purposes
But also for lighting purposes.
kerosene and mustard oils are still used
in the countryside and temples for light.
But now
When electricity is generated by different means.
Salute to the human brains.
The lights are used for various purposes.
Present day life can not be imagined without electricity.
Sometimes it's hard to differentiate whether it's night or day.
The only witness is the sun at daylight and
Moon at night.
If we see from the aeroplanes in the nights
when electricity is there in the cities with high intensity.
Oh god it looks like heaven made by men.
The street lights
The colourful lights with their special meanings
Guiding the vehicles to drive for drivers.
And also the yellow, Green, Red and blue lights at the airports

have different meanings to guide the Aeroplane pilots.
The traffic lights look like beautiful flowers.
are mounted in such a way that
No confusion with the vehicle lights.
Due to street lights
It became possible to reduce the Workload of
Traffic police despite the challenging weather.
Traffic lights or
City lights are the essential parts of life
which are the guidelines for its
Own inventor men
whether he/she
driving wrong or right.
In Fact in the present day world,
China is going to create
Another moon artificially.
No life can run without city lights.
Electricity is an essential power supply.

EVENING IN PLOVDIV

The lamps rise above my town

and scatter lights on the houses.

The people under the stars -

are bright or gloomy,

untouchable, remote,

actually kind,

among the fall of leaves.

An orange cat is in a hurry for a meeting,

golden shadows run across its fur.

The owl's eyes resemble mystical full moons,

peeking somewhere behind the trees.

Under the street lamps I'm staring

and I'm waiting your favorite footsteps.

The alley with fountains is oversaturated with emotions.

Sprays of transparent geysers  arrive

with the spectrum of colors.

And melodies embraces the evening town.

CARNIVAL IN PLOVDIV*

I sing for you, my town, illuminated

of southern and world splendor -

far carried away a sunny memory

the soul-teller Saroyan **.

Here golden and purified Zlatyu ***

possessed the contrasts.

The fiery carnival gives birth

to poets. And to artists.

The radiant mirrors

of the brush and pen -

are the truths for life

with their Divine talent.

The world untouchable and familiar

grows among the ruins.

The eccentrics of my town

are worthy of Fellini .****

* Plovdiv, Bulgaria - one of the oldest towns in the world;

**William Saroyan, Armenian-American novelist, playwright, and short story writer.

***Zlatyu Boyadzhiev, great Bulgarian painter;

 .
Aspiration for peace.
.
I am not telling a prehistoric story,
I am not saying when people stood upright,
On the shore of some sea,
Or on a mountain peak,
Or in a deep forest,
Or at the foot of a volcano.
.
I speak today standing in this 21st century,
From my kite flying memories,
I flew the James Webb telescope into the distant sky,
And my kids play with drones every day-
And our heart has become a conscientious telescope.
.
I am not talking about any racism,
I am not talking about any religion,
Or any language,
Or about the rich and the poor,
Or about any nation,
I am not talking about any country or continent,
I only talk about people-the human being.
.
How much light is shining from the earthen lamp?
How many colors and names of that lamp,
However, a single color lamp is needed now.
.
Name the lamp is peace!
.
What else do you want in this twenty-first century?
Tell me man...!

 - STREETLIGHTS ON MARS -

I grew up under the streetlight

sitting on the curb, the busses driving slowly by

belching the diesel fumes across the avenue

we tossed our knives into the air

they landed like arrows in the ground below

we were good, very good

we were moving pictures back then

our caps on backward, swearing and smoking

saying bad things to the girls as they walked back and forth

our leather jackets glistening in the fog

boys across the street did not dare to approach

we had our boundary, we had our landmark

it rose to the sky, electrified

the moth flew in orbit

the bat swooped around us

we didn’t worry

we covered our hair

it never got dark on that sacred street corner

the ghosts there were holy and friendly and tame

they called us their brothers, we called them by name

I leaned on that lamp post every night

hoping to catch the attention of someone

to give me a lift, a gift, or a ride

up past the darkness of the infinite night

we lit the fire and we sang our songs loud

so many are gone now to who knows where

the girls and the boys vanished into the air

but I can go back there any time I desire

to warm my hands over the fire

to visit the new kids in that intersection

picking the flowers and digging up the grass

it’s a comfort to know that the streetlight still shines

a beacon for a soul who has lost its way

an ancient ritual for a modern day

Lantern for the City

Yes, the streets dazzle

as the boulevards adorned

with fireflies,

the bumblebees buzz around

every nook and corner

humbug with silent jingles

of Ecstasy,

The night birds of the city

turn their vehicles on,

to scoot over and jive in,

On the nights of the waning moon,

City lights greet one and all

with a cherubic smile,

Love pairs, young and old

come and tap the feet

in the mood of vibrant hues

of even tides,

Tides of oceans rejoice at

the simmering spectacle,

Night became days

The sounds in the cosmos

reverberate the tones

of excitement.

Yes, the landscape of night

bewitching to the hearts

As the street lights peep

through the passages

of fairy cities.
